Mission No. 2

Open to Fandoms: Devil May Cry, Resident Evil, Full Metal Alchemist, Death Note, Bleach, Tackey and Tsubasa(LOL)

Prompt: The Surrealist Banquet

Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to write a short story based on the theme of a bizarre dinner party. Basically speaking, something as civil and pleasant should be counterpointed with something dark and unpleasant.

Requirements: (These are a must)
1. It needs to be at least 1,500 words long, but no more than 4,500 words

Extra points (These are optional)
1. How creatively you can work with the theme- vary your settings, be it present day or midieval Japan, or even The Restaurant at The End of the Universe.
2. How dark you make it. Don't be afraid to let your perversions be reflected in the cutlery kids!

The purpose of this exercise is to make you cut out unnecessary dialogue/description- you only 4,500 words to work with, so make each one count! Entries will be judged by a popularity poll after the deadline.

You may post the entries to the comm as soon as you complete the assignment. Please include TAG : MISSION No. 2

What do you consider fluff exactly?
Is fluff the fine line between vivid imagrey or mundane details? Or is it something else entirely- like romantic/funny nonsense?
It is my experience that people's definitions of fluff differ (drastically), so I'm just checking...

Fluff is anything that is sappy I suppose? It sort of runs against the grain of the theme. But maybe that is too harsh a restriction-- so we'll just get rid of that i suppose..

So, even people who aren't in this community can post? Because if not, that means I would have to join? Also, you didn't put any limits on who is involved or what can happen as part of the plot. However, if I added in too much yaoi/angst, would that be a bad thing? Is there a limit on how rated R it can go? Let's just say that I'm not particularly gentle when people tell me How dark you make it. Don't be afraid to let your perversions be reflected in the cutlery kids!

I can answer this. :)

You have to be a member to be in the running and you have to be a member in order to vote (if we are using the polling as a means of judging).

You can write ANY pairing and ANY situation you like, as long as it is within the prescribed fandom above.

And trust us - there's no shade of dark/angst that will scare us. If it is uber dark (i.e. death, severe mutiliations, etc), a warning should be applied for the folks who may faint at the slightest trace of blood. :D

Hope this info helped.

Ooh, oh, oh! I have one more question- and I think its a really good one...
IF there is sex in the story it has to be yoai right? No het?
(ONLY asking b/c abyss goat wrote ANY pairing, but under user info it says that this is a yaoi/shonen ai community.)

So, which is it? Any pairing or any boy-on-boy pairing??
Mar. 19th, 2007 04:59 am (UTC)
^^ Sorry - meant ANY Yaoi pairing. :D

I'd love to enter for a chance to win that bleach dj, but there's no way in hell I'd be able to make that deadline. :|

*cough cough* I live to write and draw. So, after reducing my sleeping hours to about 2 hours again, for the last week, and this upcoming week, I realized that I have two stories done for this. So I was wondering if I can post both for submission (which I kind of doubt), or if I can post both, and list one as the one for submittion?
Also, I noticed that is a yaoi community, however, I was wondering if it has to have yaoi content in the piece? Because the first fic I wrote has some, but the second one that I'm currently obsessed with, still has no yaoi or prOn. I think there will be some shounen-ai implications, but I'm working with the yaoi portion. It's one of the few ones that does not include prOn *sigh*

Yes - you can post as many entries as you like. As for the content - it does not need to be explicit Yaoi. But it SHOULD have some BL/Shonen ai content. :D

Is there a specific time for the deadline or is it whenever it's still April 1st in your time zone? =/ I mean... I'm in California and well... Some have the deadline be like... 1900 EST or 2359 CST. >.>;;;
Mar. 28th, 2007 02:48 am (UTC)
As long as it is April 1st. :) We are not going to be that stingy.^^ Will accept very early April 2nd - or whenever we are up.

I just posted my fic for mission no. 2 and I forgot to add the word count- its 4,109 according to my Microsoft Word.
I would have added it to the post, but I got a message saying it needed to be reveiwed by the mods. ^^
P.s: It's very,very,very early april 2nd where I am- I hope you'll still except the submission...~_~
I worked so hard. *sniff-sniff*
Apr. 2nd, 2007 05:30 am (UTC)
Nevermind... Added the word count to the post when it popped up. I had to do a *minor* edit so it changed to 4,117 words- still well within the limit, though!!

Can we x-post the entries as soon as we post them here or do we wait until after the voting has been finished? -shrugs- I think you said in either this post or the first one that we can post them to whichever communities that relate but not as to when. =/
Apr. 2nd, 2007 08:42 am (UTC)
You can x-post them anytime u like. :)
